Botswana is a land of pristine wilderness, offering some of the world's most exciting wildlife encounters. Its diverse ecosystems range from the lush, winding waterways of the Okavango Delta to the expansive sands of the Kalahari. While the Moremi Game Reserve marks the edge of the Delta, animals roam freely into neighboring regions, like the massive Chobe Park and the neighboring concessions.

Botswana & Victoria Falls journey is the ideal combination of Botswana experiences. Land based safari camps to search for big game especially cats and elephants. As a contrast fly to an area where you can experience the Okavango waterways by boat or canoe (mokoro). Then on to Victoria Falls for a visit to one of the natural wonders of the world including a sunset dinner on the Zambezi.

Botswana safari locations are selected on an individual basis. Camps and lodges are selected based on what activities you would like to participate in, your comfort level and species you are interested in seeing.

Chobe - Savute - Khwai

On Safari

Gateway to Botswana is usually via Cape Town or Johannesburg to Maun, Botswana. Here you will board a charter flight to Savuti, deep in the heart of Chobe Park. This is the uncrowded Chobe. A remote area where the game viewing superb with varied wildlife including stunning predators and thousands of elephants. It is here that the wildlife runs free, you will sense the grandeur of Africa.

Set down on a bush airstrip where you are met by your guide. Board your open vehicle and head out on your first game drive. Keep your eyes wide as you may see your favorite species such as long-legged giraffe, lion, leopard, and elephant.

You are greeted at the lodge with refreshments and a cooling towel. The camp manager will go over the activities and safari schedule. Time to relax before another game activity back to the lodge in time for a delicious dinner. Cap off the evenings around a roaring campfire sharing stories of your first day on safari.

Chobe - Savute - Khwai

Up at dawn, the best time to catch the wildlife on the move, searching for water, food, or just heading to another territory. Midday, the wildlife is quiet, giving you the opportunity for a bush walk or boat ride.

Activities include open vehicle game drives, guided wildlife walks, and, at most camps we suggest, a water activity.

Chobe - Savute - Khwai

This morning we suggest to stay in, enjoy your surroundings hopefully some 'visitors' will come to drink at the waterholes. Game drives are available in morning and afternoon if you prefer. Speak with the camp manager to organize your time at camp. No reservations needed - activities are as you please.

Moremi Game Reserve

An exhilarating flight over the lagoons and islands to another game rich area. Spend the next three days in the game rich Moremi Game Reserve. Surrounded by the Delta’s flood plains, it is beautiful and seriously good game viewing. Many of the large herds move here when the flood waters are high. This is one of the only areas that has excellent game viewing throughout the year. The region has very high concentration of cats.

After a morning game drive, lunch is served at the lodge. Then head out on safari into the ancient riverine forests, open savanna, and serpentine channels with a varied habitat of exceptional fauna and flora.

Born Free's selected camps in Moremi offer year-round land and water game viewing experiences in open land rovers, powerboats, or canoes, known locally as mokoros. The diverse habitat ensures prolific sightings of elephant, buffalo, wild dog, hyena, giraffe, hippo, wildebeest, kudu, lechwe, lion, leopard, and cheetah, among others. Birding is spectacular especially in the spring and summer months when the migrants are breeding.

Moremi Game Reserve

Two full days to really explore and understand this area and all that it has to offer. Every day is different, everyday another sight awaits -- hippos frolicking in the waters, popping their heads up for a breath and then down again, a lion hunting for their cubs, or antelope sitting regally on their outlooks. Do not look past the bird life. The species range from the Crested Crane to soaring Fish Eagles and many jewel-like species such as the lilac-crested roller.

Moremi Game Reserve

Head out in your open safari vehicle. The sheer numbers of herbivores that roam these areas are a great draw to the predators, making this an exceptional place to encounter lion, wild dog, hyena, and cheetah. Morning and afternoon game drives. Walks and boating as offered by the lodge.

Okavango Delta

Today, fly further into the Botswana heartland. Our destination is the Khawi area of the Okavango Delta. The area includes floodplains, waterways, and woodlands. Among the wildlife that may be spotted are four of the Big Five - lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo. There are also hyena, wild dog, giraffe, and the occasional cheetah.

We love this area due to the varied activities available to the guests. Expertly guided game drives, walking safari, motorboat trips, and canoe excursions are all available during your stay.

Okavango Delta

Another day exploring the bush as you please. Game drives in the early morning are most exciting or make the time today to take a short nature walk with one of the experienced rangers.

Walking safaris are highly recommended for anyone interested in stretching their legs and getting to know a bit more about plants and bird life. Safari by motorboat where you will explore the North Delta's waterways. Wildlife sightings can include hippo, crocodile, and elephant.

Go out tonight on a night drive. A spotlight is used to search out the nocturnal species, such as the aardwolf, porcupine, leopard, and even a pride of lion.

Victoria Falls

Before bidding farewell to the African bush, board a mokoro (dug-out canoe) and float silently through the reeds. Your "pole person" takes you into the small waterways and through lily ponds in search of hippo, crocodile, and the smaller creatures, such as the musical reed frog, gem-like birds, and possibly a Fish Eagle on the hunt.

One of the world's great natural wonders of the world, lie ahead - Victoria Falls. A short flight and drive take you to Vic Falls. Here you are escorted to your lodge located in easy reach of the park. In the late afternoon, there is time to enjoy your surroundings or possibly take a Helicopter flight seeing to get the best impact of this awe-inspiriting site.

Victoria Falls

Zambezi Sundowner

Walking tour this morning with hopes of catching the rainbow that often arches over the gorge. Now in its 150 millionth year, the Falls reach its zenith in about May each year. There is time to visit the arts market known for its soapstone carvings.

In the early evening, we have included a Sundowner Cocktail Cruise on the Zambezi.
