  Welcome!

  Upon arrival at the Cairo airport, you'll be welcomed by a Born Free host, who will provide assistance through customs and immigration. Collect your luggage, then you are escorted to your hotel for the evening. Get a good night’s sleep, your adventure begins in the morning!

  Cairo

  Grand Egyptian Museum - Old City - Memphis - Sakkara

  The ancient story begins when your guide picks you up for a full day exploring the city. The best introduction to the days that lie ahead is starting at the brand new Grand Egyptian Museum (scheduled opening, 2020), the soon to be home of the richest collection of antiquities in the world. About 100,000 artifacts are being displayed in public for the first time. Some of the most impressive finds include King Tut's clothing and three of his funeral beds, a stone statue of Ramses II, and golden chariots. The museum must be pre-booked.
  
  Then on to Old Cairo to visit the bazaar, Ben Ezra Synagogue, the Hanging Church and the Abu Sergah Church, dating back to the beginning of the 5th century.
  
  Continue to Islamic Cairo, where you’ll visit the Citadel of Salah El Din and Mohamed Ali Mosque, constructed in 1830. Also highlighted on today’s touring will be Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt in Pharaonic times. Here you'll see the Alabaster Sphinx, Colossus of Ramses II. Then proceed to Sakkara, the location of the famous Step Pyramid of Zoser, the first tall building in the world.
  
  Tonight attend the Sound and Light show at the Pyramids and Sphinx.

  Cairo

  Giza - Pyramids & Sphnix

  This morning head to the Great Pyramids of Giza. It is the only survivor the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Explore the interior and visit the tombs of the pyramid builders. For the full Egypt traditional experience - take a camel ride out to the Pyramids.
  
  This afternoon, your exploring will take you to visit the Solar Boat Museum, the site of Cheops and the Great Sphinx.

  Luxor

  East Bank - Karnak & Luxor Temples

  This morning, you will fly from Cairo to Luxor, the spot where ancient Thebes once stood.
  
  Cross the Nile this afternoon to the East Bank to see the Temple of Luxor, built by the pharaohs, Amenhotep III and Ramses II. View the three large statues of Ramses II, and the Colonnade of Amenhotep III, with its 14 papyrus columns.
  
  Your step back into antiquity continues as you explore the avenue of ram-headed Sphinxes. This links the Luxor Temple with Karnak Temple, the center of worship in ancient Egypt. No site makes more of an overwhelming impression than this “Temple of all Temples”, as it is referred to by Egyptologists.

  Luxor

  West Bank - Valley of the Kings

  Today you will explore the west bank of the Nile and Thebes to see the Colossi of Memnon and the Temple of Hatsheput, ancient Egypt's first female pharaoh. Continue to the Valley of the Kings, burial ground of the pharaohs. Tombs were built along this valley for the pharaohs and nobles, including Tutankhamen.

  Onward Journey

  Abu Simbel

  Rise early and fly to Abu Simbel, the ancient temple in reverence of the mighty Ramses II and his Queen Nefertiti. One of the most awe-inspiring engineering feats of the modern world.
  
  These two gigantic temples were built into the side of a rock cliff face by the legendary Pharaoh Ramses II. The main entrance features 4 colossal statues.
  
  When the Egyptian government decided to build the Aswan Dam, it was projected that Lake Nasser would flood the area, burying the statues in the waters. UNESCO jumped in to save these treasured monuments, taking on the project in 1968. The complete site was carefully dismantled, raised and rebuilt 70 feet higher, out of the flood danger.
  
  Afterward, you'll return to Cairo by air to connect to your flight onward.
