Classic Morocco

Kasbah to the Sahara

12 Days/11 nights

Morocco is one of the most enchanting and diverse countries in the world. The colorful souks, intriguing architecture, and fabulous food are just a start. You will be spellbound by the country’s dramatic landscapes.

Travel to the Sahara Desert, follow the serpentine roads into the High Atlas Mountains, walk through red rock gorges. Discover the mystical Imperial cities of Fes, Marrakesh, Meknes, and Rabat. There are nine UNESCO World Heritage sites in Morocco. This journey will take you to five, including Volubilis, a Roman outpost founded in the 3rd century BCE. Cultural sites, such as the tomb of Moulay Idriss II and the medina of Marrakesh and Fes, are fascinating.

The senses come alive as you wander the winding alleyways of the bustling souks (bazaars) and medinas. It is a world of color at every turn. Moorish buildings and Mosques are laden with blue, green, and gold tiles. Towns are walled in red sandstone, and there is even an entire city painted blue (Chefchaouen). Valleys are filled with date palms, and wherever you look, markets radiate rich hues of hundreds of different spices. Take the time to negotiate with the shop owners. A few of the more outstanding items are the hand-woven Berber carpets, bright colored lanterns, fine leather goods, and painted pottery.

Accommodations range from the traditional Moroccan-style riad (hotel) to the luxury Four Seasons and Richard Branson’s Tamadot. Food is fabulous and many of the top restaurants of the world are located in the cities. Born Free Concierge service will gladly assist in reservations.

Morocco is a unique destination that lives up to expectations!

A traveler also needs to be aware that it can all be quite overwhelming. You will be on the go and should not mind long drives. There is quite a lot of ground covered, but the scenery is rewarding. Hotels are outstanding, and food is excellent. The weather can be extreme, so it is important to select the right time to travel, especially for those who are not used to the heat. Certain holiday times should be avoided due to closures of shops and sites.
