Classic Tanzania Safari

11 days/10 nights

Tanzania is the epitome of the ‘Safari Experience’ one envisions. Abundant wildlife, stunning scenery, atmospheric accommodations and activities make it a destination with wide appeal. Tanzania has it all. On the Classic Tanzania Safari you travel by Land Cruiser with your dedicated safari guide, to the best of Northern Tanzania's game parks. The safari is well-paced with no transit times over two hours. The one exception maybe in the Serengeti depending on the best location to optimize game viewing during your visit.  A comfortable flight takes you back to Arusha at the end of your safari.

Visit Tarangire National Park, home to large herds of elephant and Lake Manyara. One of the highlights is always Ngorongoro Crater, an UNESCO World Heritage site, home to thousands of animals including the rare rhino and pink flamingos.

Stop at the new Oldupai Museum (the correct Maasai spelling of Olduvai), the site where paleoanthropologists Dr. Louis Leakey and wife Mary, discovered one of the oldest human skulls dating back millions of years. The museum exhibits some of the earliest evidence found in Oldupai as well as showcasing findings from elsewhere in Africa.

The Serengeti needs no introduction, it has the finest game viewing in all the world. It is a large area and this Classic Tanzania safari will spend extended time exploring its vast reaches. Each day will bring a new exciting display the life on the Serengeti. The migrating herds circle the region throughout the area. Your base for exploration will be selected according to the time of year you are traveling to maximize game viewing.

Your Safari Guide is one of the most important keys in making your safari a success. One great advantage of having the same Born Free Professional Guide throughout your trip, is a welcomed continuity. Over the course of your time on safari, you will be spending a significant amount of time with your guide. You will want a guide who can develop an understanding of the trip you have envisioned whether you are looking for your favorite species, want to meet with the Maasai or are a photography enthusiast. And, knows what you have seen each day, in order to show you something new the next day.

Your Born Free guide will bring unrivaled knowledge, a touch of humor and a warmth that you will welcome each day. Is this your dream trip?

This is the Classic Tanzania Safari that you have seen in documentaries - wildlife, varied scenery, small villages and Maasai encounters. In order to truly experience the full extent of possibilities, there are many days that you will drive from one park to another. The scenery is stunning, and you can stop as you please. The drive times are generally under two hours apart from safaris that take place from June to early October, when you must get to the north and west Serengeti to encounter the migrating herds.  At the end of the safari, a convenient flight takes you back to Arusha avoiding the long drive or double backing over the same roads.

Tailor-Made Itinerary: This journey can be customized to suit your vision. A tailor-made trip is not necessarily more expensive than a group safari. Add flights throughout for your convenience, visit Zanzibar and dive in the crystal clear waters or add a Gorilla trek. Travel in the style that meets your comfort level, to the places that interest you the most at a pace that you'll enjoy.
