Heart of Kenya - Wing Safari

Wing Safari

8 Days/7 Nights

The Heart of Kenya highlights two of the most iconic wildlife areas in Kenya: Amboseli and the Maasai Mara. Witness the abundant wildlife and unforgettable scenery, meet the wonderful Maasai people and have breakfast in the shadows of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Stay on the Mara Conservancy that adjoins the Mara.  Here you can take off-road game drives with vehicles strictly limited. Walk with the Maasai a nature walks and visit a local community. Some safari camps allow exciting night drives to see the nocturnal creatures. This is a great safari as a stand-alone or to use as a base for visiting other areas including the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania, Gorilla Trekking, Southern Africa and/or Victoria Falls.

What are Conservancies and Concessions?

Safari Conservancies and Concessions are tracts of land, often adjoining national parks, that eco-tourism lodge operators ‘rent’ from local communities or private ranches. The agreement is based on allowing the exclusive use of wildlife and a low impact tourism. It's been a win-win situation for travelers, the resident wildlife and the local people (like the Maasai and Samburu) that live in these areas. A portion of each bed night goes directly to the local communities. There are many advantages to booking a safari staying on a conservancy. The most obvious is the exclusivity - there are no minibuses and you're likely to be the only vehicle present at any given wildlife sighting.

In addition, conservancies are privately run and therefore less regulated than the national parks. Activities that are banned in national parks like the Maasai Mara and Amboseli are possible in the conservancies - including night game drives, walking safaris, non-mainstream village visits and experiences on camel or horseback.
