Hidden Kenya - Wing Safari

Born Free Traveler’s #1 Safari Choice

10 Days/9 Nights

Hidden Kenya will take you to game rich areas that are uncrowded, peaceful and all you have envisioned for a safari experience. The areas visited are relatively remote but always in reach of the best game viewing areas. Travel to the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro, scenic Lewa Conservancy in Laikipia region in the north and to the jewel of Kenya, the Maasai Mara, the northern extension of the Serengeti Plains.

Set on a private conservancy with views of Mt. Kilimanjaro is our featured camp - Tortilis. The area is known for it's elephant population reported to be over 1000 strong and some of the largest in Africa.

Lewa is magical with magnificent views of Mt. Kenya. Vehicles are strictly limited so it never feels crowded. Here you may spot wildlife that is only found in the northern region, such as the Grevy's zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, Beisa Oryx and the long neck gerenuk.  Lewa is also home to the protected rhino.

Bordering the Maasai Mara, the private conservancy you will use as your base for exploration contains all the wonders of the Mara without the crowds. It is the corridor where thousands of animals move between the reserve and Loita Plains. Here the vehicles are strictly limited. Game viewing is off-road in open vehicles. There are also nature walks and a visit to a Maasai communities.

This safari is elevated to another level in accommodations and experiences. We have selected safari properties that must meet the following standards: excellent wildlife regions, enriching activities, an African décor that echoes all that is Africa, excellent food, and personalized services.

If you only go to Africa once, do it right. Be in the best camps, have the best guides and enjoy Africa in all its glory.

What are Conservancies and Concessions?

Safari Conservancies and Concessions are tracts of land, often adjoining national parks, that eco-tourism lodge operators ‘rent’ from local communities. This provides needed income to the local people, and protects the wildlife by affording controlled low impact safaris. A portion of each bed night goes directly to the local communities. For the safari-goer there is exclusivity - there are no minibuses and you're likely to be the only vehicle present at any given wildlife sighting.

In addition, conservancies are privately run and therefore less regulated than the national parks. Activities that are banned in places like the Maasai Mara, Samburu and Amboseli are possible in the conservancies - including night game drives, walking safaris, non-mainstream village visits and experiences on camel or horseback.
