  01

  Amman - Petra

  Upon arrival at the Amman airport, you'll be welcomed by a Born Free host, who will provide assistance through customs & immigration and collection of your luggage. Continue with your private guide on a road transfer directly to Mount Nebo for a walking tour.
  
  Mount Nebo – the sacred mountain in Jordan, standing over 2,000 feet high. Its views are believed to be those from which Moses gazed upon the Holy Land before his death. On a clear day, you can look out over the Dead Sea towards Bethlehem.
  
  Continue with your guide on a drive to Petra. Settle into your hotel for the evening - more adventure awaits you tomorrow morning.

  Petra

  Up early this morning to beat the crowds and sun. A short drive takes you to the ancient city of Petra, originally settled by the Nabataeans over 2,000 years ago. Admired then for its refined culture, massive architecture, and ingenious complex of dams and water channels, Petra is now an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  
  Explore Petra on foot with your guide. Traverse the natural rock tunnel to reach Petra's spectacular setting deep inside a narrow desert gorge. Discover Petra's most famous monument, the Treasury, at the end of the Siq. The towering façade of the Treasury was used in the final sequence of the film "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade."
  
  Various walks and climbs reveal literally hundreds of buildings, tombs, baths, funerary halls, temples, arched gateways, colonnaded streets, and haunting rock drawings. Petra also features an open-air theatre, a 1st century monastery, a modern archeological museum, and a modest shrine commemorating the death of Aaron, brother of Moses.

  Wadi Rum

  Valley of the Moon

  Depart Petra on a road transfer to Wadi Rum. Known also as the Valley of the Moon or Red Mountains, Wadi Rum is set in a valley cut into the sandstone and granite rock in southern Jordan.
  
  Venture out on a 2-hour 4x4 Jeep Tour led by a local English-speaking Bedouin driver. Explore the stunning desert landscape of Wadi Rum, following the path of Lawrence of Arabia. Experience the winding passages through sandstone cliffs, climb towering dunes, and discover ancient rock bridges and petroglyphs.
  
  Tonight's accommodations are an otherworldly destination in their own right. Nestled in the red valley sands of the Arabian desert and bordered by rugged mountains, your camp stay may make you feel as though you're at a luxurious colony on Mars.

  Onward Journey

  After breakfast at camp, you'll be escorted on a drive back to the airport in Amman to begin your international journey homeward or onward to another great destination.
