Tanzania Under Canvas
Featuring High Comfort Camps
Have you ever imagined drifting into sleep as a lion’s roar echoes through the night, joined by the haunting, high-pitched chorus of hyenas and the distant majestic trumpet of elephants? Picture yourself waking to freshly brewed coffee brought to your tent at dawn. Then head out on the golden plains as the sun rises and the Africa wildlife comes alive.
At night sit around a crackling fire, exchanging stories of your day in the bush. Perhaps you feared that chasing such a wild dream required sacrificing your comforts. In truth, you will leave little in comfort behind as you step into your tent and relax after the days safari.
Tanzania Under Canvas provides an authentic safari with a high standard of accommodations, food, and services. Camp standards vary greatly, even when designated as deluxe or higher. Born Free Tented Safari camps in our portfolio will be recommended to meet your comfort level.

PERMANENT TENTED CAMPS or Tented Lodges: Permanent camps are the classic "Out of Africa" experience, blending nostalgic adventure with the comforts of a traditional lodge. Primarily built with canvas sides on elevated or cement platforms, these structures provide full protection from the outside elements. Bathrooms are ensuite with flush toilets and running hot water.
The phrase 'tented lodges' is designated to properties that have hotel standards, built on permanent bases, full bathroom facilities yet capture the ambience of a tented camp by having walls of canvas. They are generally a gold or platinum standard.
SEASONAL MOBILE CAMPS: Mobile camps are relocated throughout the year and coordinate their location to access migration patterns. While maintaining a nomadic spirit, they offer a sophisticated level of comfort, utilizing refined yet lightweight furnishings that distinguish them from the permanent camps.
